This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Services"). Please read this policy carefully. By using our Services, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us and information generated through your use of the Services:
Account & Profile Information
- Name, email address, and password
- Phone number, date of birth, and nationality
- Passport number (for job application purposes)
- Profile photo / avatar
- Bio, location, and language preference
Career & Job-Related Data
- Career quiz answers and results
- Job preferences and saved job listings
- Uploaded documents (e.g., resumes, certificates)
- Consultation notes and session history
Device & Technical Data
- Device push notification token (to send you notifications)
- Device type and operating system (iOS or Android)
- App usage data and interaction logs
Purchase & Subscription Data
- Purchase history (in-app purchases and subscriptions)
- Subscription status and entitlement information
- App Store or Google Play receipt data (used exclusively for purchase verification)
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To match you with relevant job listings based on your profile and quiz results
- To facilitate career coaching consultations
- To send push notifications about job matches, application updates, and service announcements
- To improve our AI-based job matching algorithms
- To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- To process and verify in-app purchases, manage subscription entitlements, and restore purchases across devices
- To analyze purchase patterns for service improvement (in aggregate, non-identifiable form)
- To comply with legal obligations
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:
- Supabase — database, file storage, and authentication infrastructure. Your data is stored on Supabase-managed servers.
- Google OAuth — optional sign-in via your Google account. Google's privacy policy applies to data shared during sign-in.
- Apple Sign-In — optional sign-in via your Apple ID. Apple's privacy policy applies to data shared during sign-in.
- Expo (Push Notifications) — used to deliver push notifications to your device via Expo's notification service.
- RevenueCat — a subscription and in-app purchase management platform. RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf and processes your App Store or Google Play receipts to verify purchases, manage subscription entitlements, and sync purchase status across your devices. RevenueCat does not store your payment card information. For details, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — all payment transactions for in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed directly by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies govern payment data.
- Stripe — payment processing for consultation bookings made through our website (japanjobmatch.com). Stripe collects your payment card information directly and securely; Japan Job Match never sees or stores your card number or billing address. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. 5. In-App Purchases & Payment Data
Our app offers in-app purchases, including consumable items and auto-renewing subscriptions, processed through Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). The following applies:
- Payment processing: All payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We do not collect, see, or store your payment card number or billing address.
- Receipt data: Apple and Google provide us with encrypted receipt data confirming your purchase. This receipt is transmitted to RevenueCat solely to verify entitlements and is not used for advertising purposes.
- Purchase history: We retain a record of your purchase history (what you bought and when) to provide subscription access and restore purchases. On iOS, this is declared as “Purchase History” data in our App Store Privacy Nutrition Label. On Android, this is declared as “Financial Information — Purchase History” in our Google Play Data Safety section.
- Purpose of collection: App Functionality (delivering subscribed content) and Analytics (aggregate, anonymized usage analysis).
Web consultation payments made on japanjobmatch.com are processed by Stripe. Japan Job Match does not store your payment card details for web transactions. Stripe may retain transaction records in accordance with their own data retention policies and applicable financial regulations.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With career consultants assigned to your account, who can view your profile and consultation notes
- With service providers who help us operate the platform (e.g., Supabase, RevenueCat)
- When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Japan Job Match, our users, or the public
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption for data in transit, Row Level Security (RLS) policies in our database, and secure token storage on your device. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes).
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data. You can delete your account directly within the app (Settings → Delete Account), or email us at info@japanjobmatch.com
- Opt-out: Disable push notifications at any time through your device settings
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
10. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately at info@japanjobmatch.com and we will delete the information promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
